DREAM SEQUENCE
I dreamed I wakened in the
night
and all my room was filled
with light.
An angel stood with flaming
sword;
he looked at me and sang
his Word.
We stood before a temple
door--
it opened wide, he walked
before.
Ten lights blazed in a spiral
dance;
he sang his Word, I stood
in trance.
From nothing I spring, a
fountain,
whirling in wisdom, a mountain.
I am the dark sea of sorrow,
I am the veil of tomorrow.
From Mercy’s seat I make
decree,
in strength I guard all
that I see.
My heart walks in beauty
and truth,
my love lives in old age
and youth.
My thoughts become swords
in the light.
Not every dream lives in
the night;
I crawl through the tunnel
to birth,
I’m heavy with fruit of
the earth.
The angel sang his Word again
and I become as mortal men.
He said, “the light you
did not see
is fruit that’s banished
from the Tree.”
But then I woke, and then
I knew
that only half what’s shown
is true--
from knowledge you behold
the Tree,
all else is veiled in mystery.
I do not tell my dream by
day;
I know what all the people
say.
But now I’ve told my dream
to you--
tonight you’ll know if it
was true.
