It is my provenance to reveal and document what I believe is the correct solution to the grand cipher of Aleister Crowley’s Liber AL vel Legis III:47.  The normal Serial Order of English (A-Z = 1-26) and the universal Stroke Count Order are used to unravel the cipher.  Prior to the date I discovered my solution, I had suspected for a long time that the “line drawn” within the cipher of Liber Legis III:47 subtracted the letters it touched from the verse’s total Serial English sum to reveal an important intended number.  Specifically, I thought this intended number was 4,774—an idea which occured to me after enumerating Liber AL vel Legis III:47 in Serial English and finding its sum total very close to 4,774 in number value.
My reason for positing that it would equal the number 4,774 specifically was due to the many correlations I had made with this number.  Firstly, I myself was born on 4/7/1974, Sun, at 7:24pm—of which the month, day, and year numbers reduce to 4774.  4/7 is the day before Liber AL vel Legis was communicated to Aleister Crowley, and 47 is the number of the verse that contains the grand cipher.  47 + 74 = 121 = 11x11, and 11 is the number of the sphere of Daath upon the Tree of Life, which as the word DOTh “knowledge”, equals 474 in Metric Hebrew.  The word Satan also when written and spelled in full in Hebrew as SATAN equals 121 (which again is 47+74, or 11x11).
Two weeks after my 21st birthday I discovered a glyph created by the symmetricalization of the numerals 4-7-7-4.  For lack of a better word I call it The 4774 Sword.[1]  This glyph was discovered by me noticing that 4 and 7 could be related to the ideas of Will & Love through the Tree of Life.  I put the trident of the two combined 4’s above to represent the Jupiterean Will of Chesed = 4, then I put the two combined 7’s below to represent the Venusian Love of Netzach = 7.  Thus I found The 4774 Sword to be the visual symbol for the magickal formula of “love under will”.
Further still I saw the glyph constituted as a crowned pentagram, symbolic of the Perfected Man.  I saw it as an alternate symbol of the Hebrew letter Shin, which is the formula of the Sacred Triad of Father, Mother, Child.  The Father & Mother are the two hooks of the trident, while the Child is the pentagram.  I made the connection that my age of 21 when I first discovered The 4774 Sword was also the Serial Hebrew value for the letter Sh, which is attributed to Key XX The Aeon.  Upon calculating 4,774’s divisors, I found that 11 x 434 = 4774, which allowed me to correlate the word Abrahadabra to it.  Abrahadabra’s common 4-3-4 letter division as ABRA-HAD-ABRA taken as 434, multiplied by its 11 letters, is seen to encode the number 4,774 as:  11 x 434 = 4774.  This can be read as “The magickal door = 4774”.  11 is Daath as 474 and is also the number of magick; the 4th Hebrew letter D is named Daleth as DLTh which is numbered as 434, and means “door.”  This signifies 4774 as “the magickal door”; the symbolism is aptly visualized by The 4774 Sword inside a vesica pisces (4x7 is the first geometric approximation of the vesica’s dimensions).  Lastly my Frater name of Wizardiaoan, which was received six months after I discovered The 4774 Sword, equals 121 (47+74) in Serial English.  If Wizardiaoan is transliterated in Hebrew as VIZARDIAOAN it equals 360 in Metric Hebrew.  When the name is numbered by the Metric Square Hebrew Order, it equals the amazing 47,704!
These correlations were made within six months after I first discovered The 4774 Sword in April of 1995.[2]  A new wave of correlative knowledge would come concerning 4774 after being exposed to David Hulses’s Liber CCCXXX Abrahadabra, which introduced me to the importance of the number 330 and the Mars S.A.T.O.R. anagram.  In December of 1998 I discovered the equation:  1,111 x 4 + 330 = 4,774.  I used this equation to build a new pentagram ritual, using the S.A.T.O.R. anagram as the diagram within the circle of the temple’s floor.
This equation posits 1,111 as each elemental quarter, and 330 as its center.  Upon knowledge of this equation I was also supplied with the God Names to use in each quarter and the center—for I had already known that Hoor-paar-kraat as HRV PR KRTh equalled 121 & 1,111 in Hebrew, and that Hru-ma-chis as HRV MA ChIS equalled 78 & 330 in Hebrew.  The God Name of HRV PR KRTh is vibrated in each elemental quarter, while the God Name of HRV MA ChIS is vibrated in the center to represent Spirit.  These 5 God Names of 8 letters each, all in a 3-2-3 letter division and composed of the same first 3 letters (being HRV), combine to create the Grand 40 letter God Name of 4,774[3], who’s initials are H.H.H.H.H. as:

HRV PR KRTh : HRV PR KRTh : HRV MA ChIS : HRV PR KRTh : HRV PR KRTh

A few months after this, on 2/2/1999, I discovered the solution to the cipher of Liber AL vel Legis II:76, being the glad word SATOR AREPO TEXET OPERA ROTAS written upon the magickal square of Mars.  Upon playing around with its possible translations and enumerations in various languages, I was amazed to find that SATWR AREPW WPERA RWTAS  = 4,774 in Metric Greek, which validated to me my solution.  At this point, having just solved Liber AL vel Legis II:76, I was now quite sure that the cipher of Liber AL vel Legis III:47 must encode the number 4774 in its Serial English verse sum.
I looked further into my early numbering of this verse using the Serial Order of English and analyzed the “line drawn” in the original manuscript to be sure upon what letters it touched.  On 2/13/1999, Saturn, two weeks after my solution to Liber AL vel Legis II:76, I posited the letters the “line drawn” touches correctly as “a, f, yas, I, t, eB, t, s,” = 127 in Serial English,  but had the verse numbered incorrectly in Serial English as 4,851 (oddly enough being off by 47).
Some months later I arrived at the correct verse sum for Liber Legis III:47 in Serial English, which is 4,898 not counting ampersands or the glyph of the “circle squared”.  My partial solution came on 8/14/1999, Saturn, when I posited the correct equation “4,898 – 127 + 3 = 4,774.”  Here I realized that just as the “line drawn” subtracted the Serial English values of the letters  “a, f, yas, I, t, eB, t, s” from the verse sum, the “circle squared” in some way added value to the verse sum as +3.  At this time I could not surmise why the “circle squared” was numbered in this way however.
My complete solution came to me on 8/23/1999, Sun, at exactly 8:23pm est (823 is the 143rd prime, and 143 = “Hoor-paar-kraat” in Serial English).  This is when I realized that the “circle squared” equals the value of 3 according to the number of strokes it took to make it, by the non-alphabet specific Stroke Count Order.  One cannot be sure of the exact stroke order in which Crowley penned the “circle squared” originally, but it is certain that it is composed of 3 strokes, being: 1) A clockwise circle; 2) A vertical line; 3) A horizontal line.
My solution to Liber AL vel Legis III:47 is thus the equation 4,898 – 127 + 3 = 4,774 (being the glyph of The 4774 Sword).  The “line drawn” subtracts the Serial English values of the letters it touches, being “a, f, yas, I, t, eB, t, s” = 127, from the verse’s sum of 4,898 in Serial English to yield 4,771.  The “circle squared” then adds 3 to the verse sum by the Stroke Count Order, which are the number of strokes it took to make it, as: 1) A clockwise circle; 2) A vertical line; 3) A horizontal line.  Thus it is indeed seen that the final value of 4,774 is attained.
The verse also refers to three keys.  The first is the “line drawn”, the second is the “circle squared”, and the third is the word Abrahadabra.  Beyond being used in the equation above, I believe they are meant to be symbolic of The Sacred Triad (which it has been demonstrated that The 4774 Sword represents), and particularly the three speakers of Liber AL vel Legis.  The “line drawn” represents the Father as Hadit, who is part, point, or individual consciousness.  Hadit cuts through all manifestation as a black hole just as the “line drawn” does, for he is always 0 as “not extended”; he kills, subtracts, takes away.  The “circle squared” represents the Mother as Nuit, who is whole, circumference, or the universal consciousness of infinity; she gives life, adds to.  The word Abrahadabra represents the unity of these two opposites as the Child, who is Ra-Hoor-Khuit; he rejoices in the interplay of the two opposites.  Abrahadabra is the third key for the reason that it implies the triune formula above as well as encoding the number 4,774 within it as previously noted:  its 4-3-4 letter division as ABRA-HAD-ABRA, multiplied by its 11 letters, equals 4,774 as 11 x 434.[4]
The correct solution is described within the verse itself as “the Key of it all”.  The 4774 Sword most generally fulfills this phrase by being the unity of the Sacred Triad as related above.  However there is another way in which The 4774 Sword is seen as being literally “the Key of it all”, and this is as the Tarot Key of the quintessence, or all.  Three months before this solution came to me I was involved in an ordeal concerning the Tarot, spurred by me realizing that the phrase “Tzaddi is not the Star” from Liber AL vel Legis I:54 meant that the English Tarot name for Key XVII was not named “The Star”, but rather “The Sun”.  I also posited that the Keys cannot be doubly attributed, which left Spirit and Earth unaccounted for within the 22-fold system.  Both of these factors led me to consider possible tarotic attributions for the numbers past 22, which eventually led to a 30-fold system being created, modeled upon Sanskrit and other alphabets.
In this system I posited a new “element” as it were for the number 30 & 3,000, which had the color black, and was symbolic of the all as the quintessence of all reality.  I needed a new symbol for it, and thought to use my glyph of The 4774 Sword for it (based upon its symbolic unity and the many correlations I had made concerning it).  Although not readily apparent to me at the time, this does indeed posit 4,774 quite literally as “the Key of it all”, as it is the Tarot Key symbol for Key 30 & 3,000, which in my system represents the black all that contains all color within it as the quintessence of all reality.[5]  My solution to AL III:47 is thus most simply the sigil of The 4774 Sword as “the Key of it all”, being 4774 symmetricalized.[6]

[2] Except that 11 x 434 = 4774.  Bizarrely I did not study 4774’s divisors until about two years later.
[3] Note that the name SATAN = 40 in Serial Hebrew.
[4] It is The Word of Wonder, of the wonderful, of the wandering Fool.
[5] See my Liber DCLXVI, as yet unpublished, for more on this extended Tarot system.  The Sanskrit letter Ksha, valued at 0 in the Katapayadhi system, represents this Key 30.
