Daughter’s Garden
By Mermaid
I once planted some flowers
and herbs in a tiny wooden frame,
But by Jove and by Foolish,
frog-like, leaps and bounds,
These petals, stems, and
leaves now dance along my very pathway,
Many-colored & fragrant
now -- these cracks between the slabs of slate --
Sparkling whether in sunlight
and moonlight
Vivacious blossoms, herb
of herbs
Dyeing, imbuing even the
clay:
With Essence
With Beauty
And gentle Powers
Earthly
Unearthly
Maat? Maat! She’s everywhere.
