The first vision:

Long ago, in the wood, on a vision quest with others of a magickal nature, I was delving into the root source of qabala and my inner mind. As visions and archetypes swirled around me, I asked a key question to the cosmos. Why 10 spheres? Why the Tree of 10? Why not 6 or 8 or12? A Brother of the Art smiled, and in one of those truly Zen moments that shatters the universe, he held out his two hands, palms open. 10 fingers. Our genetic hardwire. There, in all its glory, was the Tree of Life incarnate.

Over 20 years have passed. The incident, never forgotten, imprinted and clear. The biological roots of the Tree of Life & 10 spheres a physical reality of which I am reminded daily.

Vision 2:

 

In water, in meditation, my mind returns to the biological and genetic root of all occult mysteries.
I examine my hands and do several mudras in meditation- then there is s teaching:

Palms out, the mudra of opening- there is the TREE:

My left hand thumb =1= Kether
First finger= 2-=Chokmeh
Next finger= 3 =Binah
 Next finger = 4 =Chesed
The pinky of my left hand =5=Geburah
 
Next, onto my open right hand: My pinky = 6=Tipereth
Next finger =7=Netzach
Next finger=8=Hod
Next finger=9-Yesod
Right thumb=10=Malkuth

QBL = TO RECEIVE
Forming the mudra of the Lotus, Om Mani Padme Hum, that which contains all things, the Tree of life is evident (see image at the top of this page)

The cupped emptiness is Daath
The joined and centered palms are the Jewel of ain, ain soph and Ain soph aur

Malkuth (thumb) meets Kether (thumb)
The whole cycle, Oroboros.

Much more further work can be done with this-

Example: Let’s say you are doing Path work on the Tree of Life-  say with the WORLD card, the path between Malkuth and Yesod- the mudra is simple- the thumb and first finger of the right hand touching, the sign of bliss and enlightenment in Buddhism, very appropriate for the WORLD or UNIVERSE.

 

Selected finger play can work you up and down  and around  the tree of Life in a series of mudras that manipulate the body via hands and the left/right brain as the spheres above and below the central sphere of Tipereth interact with each other. Magickal charges can easily be built up with concentration and the addition of other actions and Words of power. One can also jump AROUND the tree, for example working with the ‘path’ from Kether to Geburah (Left hand- pinky & thumb touching)

“With the right hand createth he, with left destroyeth he”

I find this magickal technique of focus to be amazingly and simply useful. I would certainly love to hear from any and all magickians who lean toward the QBL mysteries who give it a go. I have had some remarkable results already and it worked well with all ‘sitting’ meditative practices.

One might begin with hands together, form the Lotus mudra to receive, then again close the palms- the Tree of Life united and earthed. OM!
