Theman if so u?

By Ron Adams / Frater Sabaechit

I made some discoveries about the hidden numerologies embedded as ciphers in the Book of the Law, Liber AL vel Legis; which was channeled by Aleister Crowley April 9th, 10th and 11th, 1904 in Cairo, Egypt.  I made these discoveries the summer of 2005, and showed them to one person, my friend Jay, when he was visiting Denver, Colorado.  I held off sharing the discovery with a wide audience, in order to study what I had uncovered, because to me it was more about the discovery and potential English Qabala than me being the discoverer or taking on the title of the child prophesized to do so in Liber AL.  I believe that there are many discoveries and many Thelemic children, and probably Frater Achad, Charles Stanfield Jones, was probably the first with his discovery of 31 as the key to Liber AL vel Legis, as he has written of it in his Liber 31.
    I feel I was born with an interesting perspective in 1955.  Discovering early on that I was a gay male, and also telepathic to some degree, I had a vantage point of a rebel with a cause, definitely forced to think outside the box at an early age.  (please bear with my obtuse background information, not that my personal ego history makes one bit of difference to the discovery, if anything, I am happy a gay person discovered it because sometimes the obvious thing is the most overlooked).
    My paternal grandmother Dorothy Jewel Lamon Adams, was descended from her great grandfather Amanual Lamon, who was a Mason in Harrison County, Indiana, and later became a sheriff there.  Dorothy taught me to read numerology and the symbolism in a regular deck of playing cards.  She has always reminded me of Lucy O’Ball, the comedian, for her independence and lite-heartedness.  She always emphasized my own will and independence in the things she taught me.
    Thus my interest in the occult happened early in life.  My first boyfriend has his psychic friend give me my first official tarot reading, with a tarot deck, and the Magician came  out as significant, prompting the reader to tell me that I knew how to do all of this, read cards, that is.  When I threw my first I Ching in Boulder in 1984, I got the first hexagram, The Creative, Ch’ien, right off the bat, all solid lines.  So things tended to pull me in this direction.  When I was about 21 I met a guy while I was hitchhiking in my hometown of Evansville, Indiana.  He turned me onto a little red book called Liber AL vel Legis right after we had sex.  He couldn’t believe that I had never heard of Crowley because at the time I had a blue tattoo of the number six on my right hand.  He had questioned me about the significance of the number before he mentioned Crowley and gave me the book.  I had responded in my usual coy self that it meant Virgo, that it looked like a 9 from my point of view.  I always never gave a straight answer back in the day, as a rebellious poet with the blue tattoo.  I finally gave in, after Wizard (his nickname) prodded and showed some real interest and I told him I put it there to flaunt it in the face of Christianity because I was so tired of growing up hearing about Armageddon, the antichrist and doom and gloom, and war, and rumors of war!  Wizard then asked me if I knew of Aten?  He told me the story of the Pharoah Akhenaton and then about Aleister Crowley, and how Crowley always signed his name, 666, The Great Beast.  I was fascinated.  I liked hearing this and read what I could.
    Jumping ahead to 2005, I had just read Perdurabo, by Richard K, his biography of Crowley, the great beast.  Richard spoke how he believed, in studying the copies of the handwritten text, that certain words and phrases were not in Crowley’s handwriting, that probably his wife Rose Kelly had added some words to Liber AL vel Legis, like the first word Had! (which is written outside the indention of the rest of the page) in Chapter 1, and some other phrases like “the omnipresence of my body,”  “division,” “The five Pointed Star, with a Circle in the Middle, &  the circle is Red.,” and “Force of Coph Nia,”  in Chapter 3, because of the difference in the handwriting style.
    I had already begun a numerology group on yahoo egroups called English Qabala, and having some interesting thelemic folk sharing their numerological discoveries.  I myself had created about half a dozen numerologies of my own, like 388 Harmonics, prior to this discovery.  On our yahoo group we explore numbers together searching for an understanding of the English Qabalas that are around.
    So I got to thinking, if I remove the first word Had, since Rose may have disobeyed the writing in the Book of the Law about not changing the style or even one letter I might have a key I could work with.  Why have this rule about not changing the style or a letter?  Maybe if changing anything would throw off a cipher, a numerology hidden in Chapter 1 of the Book of the Law itself.   (I am not the first to think this or do this, John Farthing did this with his Toavotea Key on the page in Liber AL vel Legis that has the line drawn through it and the words, “Then this line drawn is a key: then this circle squared in its failure is a key also”).
    I thought perhaps the reason we are not to change the words is because a numerology lay there.
    Luckily, with the help of a computer and word processing, I was able to find the hidden Key by removing repeating letters in Chapter One of the Book of the Law:
The Manifestation of Nuit
Which is like creating a sigil, kind of like what Austin Osman Spare did with sigils.
The Manifsou (and so on).
Theman if so u (as I’ve named this system, using the first 11 letters for the name).
Here is the complete key:
T=1
H=2
E=3
M=4
A=5
N=6
I=7
F=8
S=9
O=10
U=12
V=13
G=14
C=15
P=16
Y=17
R=18
W=19
B=20
D=21
K=22
K=23
Z=24
X=25
Q=26
    Interesting that the letters P and R are in the same position 16 and 18 as they are in the original English!  Immediately I double checked the system against the cryptic verse 76 in Chapter 2 of the Book of the Law:
4 6 3 8 ABK 2 4 ALBMOR 3 Y X 24 89 RPSTOVAL
We know that the numbers add up to 143.
Now with this system the letters add up to 237.
237 + 143 = 380
A perfect circle is 360.
I was stumped.  That was interesting but no definite proof.
My friend Jay and I played around with it and found some interesting connections:
143 was the word CONSCIOUS DREAM.
DREAMS and URANUS seemed to match as number 60.
64 revealed some interesting words:  SCARLET, BES NA MAUT, HERU RA HA.
LUCID and MAGICK came in under the number 67.
66 held:  THEMAN IF SO U, DREAMTIME, LIMITLESSNESS, SOURCE, KEPHRA.
93 held ADVERISTY, ABKALGMO.
72 is interesting being it’s the number for PENTAGRAM, MANIFESTATION.
WILL and TYPHON come in under 52.
IPSOS, DREAM and I CHING are the number 51.
BAPHOMET and TELEPATHY the number 61.
    There was lots of interesting connections, but again nothing standing out strongly.
    I was quick to realize I may have fulfilled the statement: “then this circle squared in its failure is a key also.”
380/4 = 95
95 = CROWLEY, INQUIREY
    I was soon to realize this was not the key, or was it?
