On another note, I'm watching Manhattan across the river tonight, and on
9/11 they use 2 huge spotlights to form huge pillars of light in the sky
over the Twin Towers site. I was in Seattle in 2001, but my Dad worked a
block away and was one of the people evacuated through falling debris. This
is always a strange and melancholy day in NYC, you do not easily forget

Some kind of new myths to embrace this rather "meta mythic" era. There's alot of value, in my opinion, in having people share there own mythic idea about humanity and how we fit into the world, universe and so forth, but I think it's getting around the time to discover new mythic expressions. New Stories to include all the new things we have and, may experience, today: space travel, extraterrestrial contact and communication and so forth.

Speaking of Magickal Childe, I always found it fascinating how some of the
characters in the X-Men comics were influenced by the people that populated
the shoppe. Chris Claremont's ex-wife was involved in the OTO at the time
and he based the villainous Hellfire Club on what he saw there. He used to
reference the Qabala in the X-men books, referring to Dark Phoenix as a
horrifying vision of Tiphareth in her beauty.

When I was a kid the comic that really "creeped me out" was "Herbie".  I don't know exactly why,  but there something really strange and disturbing about the character and the art.  After Herbie, I was immune to the beasties in the Lovecraft stories. They just did not scare me.  I don't know, it's like Herbie opened the possibility that the ordinary world was always teetering on the edge of extreme bizarreness.

For myself, I feel that the Aeon of Horus without Maat is destructive
and rude. Maat brings in ethics, which I feel is an important balance
to the Double Current. Sure the main force of the Horus current was to
wipe out the old aeonic way of thinking, but left unchecked it could
wipe out everything. No use having free will, true will and purpose if
we don't respect that in one another.

I have always described Magick and Magickians like this to people who aren't familiar with the topic: Every one is like their own individual X-Man or X-woman, with their own unique "powers," all stemming from a collective source which coexists with everything else. We're all psychic, I often impart. I was a HUGE fan of these comic books growing up and would like to catch some of those references. It's odd you bring this up, as I came up with a song title today: "All my friends are X-Men."

My introduction to the occult came not through Dr. Strange or the X-men but still by way of comix -- "Eerie" and "Creepy" and "Vampirella" in the late 1960s.  Horror comix.  Anyone else familiar with these?  I think a Lovecraft tale or two made their way into their pages.  I was fascinated by these Darkside yarns so went to the library to see what magic was really about and discovered Golden Dawn, Crowley, etc.

I'm more of your outlandishly normal - following the goddess - type of grrl. Ishtar, Isis and all of her aspects. I realised that at around 24 that I thought/think/ who knows! that I'm closer to death than birth. I appreciate ageing. I appreciate the 'crystlised knowledge' that comes with age, I appreciate not losing my inherent ability to seek the silver - most of all.

Personally, I found the best results happen when the spell is done for you by someone else. It removes all 'lust of result', which can be difficult to get rid of when you're so emotionally attached to the outcome.

Art produced by artists who identify themselves, or are identified by others, as being magickally-oriented, or for lack of a better term, 'New Aeon Artists', don't seem to have such a unifying theme to their work. It's much more eclectic, in my view.
